Barrow Village Hall Opening Event

Village Hall Opening – 6th December 2025
Further to my previous update in October, we are pleased to provide a final update before we host the Barrow Village Hall Opening Event on 6th December 2025.
Over the last few weeks, we have been dealing with the final efforts from our Main Contractor and other contractors, including final fixes, rear yard works and the various inspections needed from Buildings Control and the Fire Safety Officer. Our Main Contractor (RHS Developments) and our appointed Architect and Contract Manager (Read Consulting) have done a sterling job in supporting this renovation and build.
We are now receiving the remaining furniture and equipment for the building, which includes tables and chairs for the main hall, permanent bistro-style furniture for the bar area, and meeting room furniture for the first floor rooms. We have also taken delivery of bar and kitchen equipment and a portable sound system.
Operationally, we have set up a charity organisation with Trustees to run the Village Hall, which is usual for Community Centres. This means we can run the hall in a way that removes the governance required for normal Parish Council decision-making, can obtain further concessions and grants for its ongoing operation, and can include more support from residents in its operation. We have developed a price list which is available from our Clerk (Sandie) or any of the Councillors.
We have music licences and intend to apply for a permanent licence for alcohol sales early in the new calendar year. In the meantime, you can speak to any of us about how alcohol provision/sales may work with any function you have in mind.
Finally, we are delighted to invite you to our Opening Event on Saturday 6th December, starting at 3.30pm. This is for all Barrow residents and any other members of the public who have an interest in using the hall. So far, we have interest and bookings for birthday parties, Christmas parties, yoga classes, teaching classes, and various clubs and interest groups.
At our opening, we will be excited to show you the Village Hall and its facilities and chat with you about how the hall will work for you and our community. We are also happy to discuss any ideas you have for its use and perhaps how Barrow residents can help further. We will be providing light refreshments and the Mayor and Mayoress of Ribble Valley will attend from around 4.45pm to support the opening event. However, please note that we will be open from 3.30pm, probably through to 7pm.
